I wish I had listened…
Probably one of the greatest lines from one of the greatest books. Douglas Adams’ ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ gives us the following line when Ford and Arthur are being subjected to torture by Vogon poetry, as the world is about to end:
“You know,” said Arthur, “it’s at times like this, when I’m trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space that I really wish I’d listened to what my mother told me when I was young.”
“Why, what did she tell you?”
“I don’t know, I didn’t listen.”
And this is exactly where Flint and Arthur differ. We pride ourselves on listening.
On 3 June 2019, Flint proudly cut the ribbon on our new venture in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
This time, we not only launched a new legal entity to support the growth of our customers’ business in the region, but we also entered the world of software, automation and security.
Through our ‘Voice of the Customer’ review process, we had received requests to support our customer as they transition from the hardware-centric world, to one where the network is run in the OS, changes can be provisioned across an entire infrastructure without anyone pushing a button, and the economic rules associated with cost of ownership are thrown away and re-written.
The team of innovative and creative consultants that has joined the Flint group in Slovenia has been at the forefront of this inflection point. They have been providing global training programmes to enable vendors, systems integrators and services providers to accelerate the introduction of solutions such as SDWAN, Secure SDWAN, ACI, DNA-Centre, Software Defined Access, VMWare, Hyperflex and NSO.
This new feather in the Flint cap allows us to support the acceleration of new technology introduction. It uniquely places Flint in a position where we are able to support the full lifecycle associated with new software introduction and includes:
Training and enablement: Content creation and Instructor Led Training (ILT), virtual classroom (synchronous delivery) content, e-learning, remote labs, and assessments.
Mentored services: Design, deployment, installation, and integration services to support the systems integrator
Project roll out: End-to-end project delivery, including software developers, programmers and testers
Staff augmentation: Supplementing project or operational teams
So, if Zaphod Beedlebrox was looking for a second head to provide the software services to supplement his legacy head, then he would probably turn to Flint.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
