The Consulting Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving technology design, implementation, execution, and optimization for customer projects/accounts. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to plan, design, configure, diagnose, and integrate Cisco’s suite of products, services, and solutions. Additionally, the consultant supports presale activities, translates business requirements into solution designs, and aligns technical deliverables with customer business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test & validation for Cisco software releases (IOS-XR and IOS)
- Following up on HW End of Life Management reports
- Following up on Software Risk Analysis (bug scrubs)
- Network design optimizations
Technical Requirements:
- ASR 9000 Series Cisco routers and IOS-XR
- Generic IOS or IOS-XE based routers (ASR1000, ME3400, NCS520
- IP/MPLS, LDP, MP-BGP, ISIS (IPv4 and IPv6)
- Inter-AS scenarios
- Multicast services over MPLS (MVPN Profile 0 and Profile 14)
- L2 (xconnect and bridge-domain) and L3 (IP VPN) services over MPLS
- Full-routing and Internet-Peering scenarios
- All related HW and SW details, features and limitations (chassis, processor and line cards, transceivers)
Complexity:
The role involves solving highly complex problems, identifying viable and often innovative options, and using analytical skills and judgment to recommend appropriate solutions.
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a BSc in Computer Science or equivalent, with 5-8 years of relevant work experience.
- Advanced degree strongly preferred.
